Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones) Procedures

Aerial Photo of campus

Illinois State University permits Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) flights over university property by student hobbyists in designated areas, and, with appropriate permissions, flights by university employees for university business purposes on campus, and by university employees acting within the scope of their employment off campus.

Please read the UAS/ Drone Policy and review the UAS "Drone" Procedure Checklist document to learn under what conditions and locations UAS flights are permitted. Procedures are organized in three sections by operator type: student hobbyist flights, on-campus flights by university employees for university or commercial purpose, and off-campus flights by university employees for university purpose. UAS use on Illinois State University property by those not affiliated with the University is not allowed.
